Typically used in our monotub set-up, our CVG mix is comprised of coco coir, vermiculite and gypsum.
Coco coir is a compressed fiber cake manufactured from coconut fibres, and is favored by those within the industry as they make mushroom substrate preparation very easy and simple.
Vermiculite is ideal for forming small pockets of warm, moist micro climates within your substrates. These pockets allow space for the mycelium to pin within your set-up. Without this vermiculite, you’ll find it difficult to create the correct surface condition to form pins leading to a much smaller harvest.
Gypsum (or calcium sulphate) is a greyish powder used for making cement and drywall. Gypsum is ideal for all your grain spawn needs as it prevents kernels from sticking together. It’s also useful as a Ph buffer and lightening agent in bulk substrate and casing material preparation.
Together, these three components make up our tried-and-tested CVG bulk mix.
