We recommend 10ml of Gourmet Health Mushroom spores per 1kg bag.
An excellent nutritional source for mushrooms to spawn on, this 1kg Rye Spawn bag also comes with a FAE (Fresh Air Exchange) filter and a self healing injection port. Simply wipe the injection port with the wipe provided and inject your spores. If you are using a fresh needle, it is sterile already so there is no need to wipe the needle or flame sterilize it.
A rye spawn bag is like a blank canvas, full of possibilities! You can fruit straight from the bag, roll the cake in vermiculite and mist it or use it to fill up your monotub!
This is one of the most popular uses for this bag! Rye grain is a quick and affordable colonization grain, but can take some time to fruit on it's own. Therefore, people prefer to use them as a spawn bag to add to an additional project for a larger yield. Follow the steps below if you'd like to try this method!
- Sterilize the area, hands and injection port. Prepare your syringe and inoculate 10-20ml of Gourmet Health Mushroom spores into the bag. Place the bag into complete darkness at around 26-27c. Do not mix the bag at this point.
- After 7-21 days you should have a ping-pong ball size of mycelium by the injection port. When you see this, we'd recommend gently breaking up the mycelium to redistribute this within the bag. Move this back into the darkness until it's fully colonized. You may need to remix the substrate a few weeks after the original remix if the colonization is concentrated to one area.
- When the bag is around 85-90% fully colonized with bright, white mycelium, you're ready to use this bag in your next steps! If this is a monotub, you want to follow the instructions here.
Grain to Grain transfers are incredibly useful to bulk colonize larger projects or to keep a strain going for longer. Follow the steps below if you'd like to try this method!

Cheap and quick to colonize, rye grain has it all (almost)! It can be slow to fruit without additional help. One of the most commonly used methods is the below.

- When the bag is around 85-90% fully colonized with bright, white mycelium, you're ready to use this bag in your next steps! With this method, you need an incubation chamber and some vermiculite. You want to sterilize the area and remove the brick from the bag and roll it in hydrated, sterilized vermiculite.
- You can then put it back within the bag, or keep it in the chamber, within low, indirect lighting and within the same temperature as it was kept during fruiting. Leave this for 24 hours before popping in again and misting it once or twice a day.
- Keep checking in on them every day and you will get pins! Harvest them before they release their spores!
These bags are capable of being an all in one grow kit, but unlike the popular Inject and Forget bag, these will take a bit longer. They take around 6-8 weeks from inoculation to the first fruits. Follow the steps below if you'd like to try this method!

- When your brick is around 85-90% fully colonized, you can move it into low, indirect lighting to facilitate the fruiting period. Keep this at the optimal temperature for your chosen Gourmet Health Mushroom spores. This will take longer than other kits.
- Harvest your fruits before they fully mature and drop their spores, leave the rest to catch up and then complete your harvest.

First time trying this. Used 3.3ml of Amazonian in each 1kg bag. Quick colonisation and 5 weeks later nearly 100% colognised. 20-25 degree range in dark boiler cupboard.
