The region is historically significant within the world of mycology and ethnobotanical research.
Huautla is frequently mentioned in discussions about the cultural history of mushrooms in Mexico, and the strain has become well known within microscopy collections studying classic cubensis lineages.
Collectors often include Huautla spores when exploring the diversity of cubensis varieties that originate from Central America and Mexico.
