Our light-reflective mylar grow tent itself is incredibly durable and easy to assemble- if we can do it, anyone can! With two, four tier shelves you should be able to grow up to 10kg of mushrooms per unit.
Our bar heaters and thermostat are designed to work together to maintain the temperature within this tent effortlessly. From 20c-80c (maybe not that hot for mushrooms!) you can plug and play easily. The high-quality circulation fan is low-noise and energy efficient, as is the whole package. With this tent, the energy efficient bar heaters, LED light, thermostat and fan will ensure the costs are kept low.
Setting up the Tent
To begin with, we’d recommend opening the box to reveal the components of your Mushroom Grow Tent. The larger, tall, box will be the tent itself, which we’d suggest you’d start with! There are instructions included within this, so we won’t bore you with the same again here!
It is important to chose a low-activity, clean area to set your tent up in as high-activity areas can increase the chance of contamination affecting your projects. Even when they’re in a tent, this does not mean they’re safe. To avoid contamination, you can spray down the inside of your tent with 70% alcohol spray and allow this to air out before starting your projects. You could also inoculate your projects whilst under a Flow Hood, or by using a still air box.
Once you’ve decided on where to put your tent, pop it up and await further instructions bellow…
Adding the Shelves
Your tent will come with two sets of shelves which are easy to put up as they slot into place like Lego! Simply attach the rods to the shelves and keep going until you have something that resembles a shelf!
We’d recommend placing the shelves within your tent on either side to allow for airflow to circulate both areas. You should be able to get 2-3 projects on each shelf easily.
Setting up the thermostat and heat tubes
Before we start fiddling with the thermostat, we would recommend securing the heat tubes within your tent as handling them hot is not recommended!
The best placement would be on opposite sides of the tent, near the bottom. As heat rises, securing the tubes near the bottom of the tent will ensure warmth is distributed upward evenly. This will also prevent the substrate from drying out as the projects should not be near the floor!
We would recommend leaving adequate space between the two tubes (at least 10-15cm from the edges of the shelves and tent walls) to prevent overheating any single spot and allow airflow to circulate freely. Ensure they are not in direct contact with these areas to prevent melting or fire hazards.
The tubes should not overheat, but they will be warmer than the temperature they are set to so the above step is incredibly important. Plus, we’ve all made the occasional mistake where we’ve set the thermostatic controller incorrectly and it’s skyrocketed the temperature! Just to be safe, ensure you stay with your tent whilst it warms up to ensure you’ve set everything up correctly.
Once everything is secured, open up your thermostatic controller and plug it in. Set it up using the provided instructions and plug both tubes into it. Set the probe up in the tent midway up the side wall, not directly above a tube, for an accurate average reading.
Please avoid mounting both tubes high up or close together as the heat won’t circulate properly. Please use the included thermostat in conjunction with the heating elements, as running the tent without temperature control is dangerous and can easily overheat your tent.
Adding the Fan
The fan provided will easily clip on to one of the bars within the tent. It’s up to you to decide where you’d like this to be. We would recommend against the lower half of the tent as floor level is where most dusts and contaminants settle, so we’d prefer not to stir this up.
Do not have this facing the projects themselves, but rather towards one of the sides of the tent. Whilst the fan itself has different speeds and can be adjusted to the lowest setting (which is recommended), having it hit the wall before circulating can ensure it won’t be too much for your projects.
Let there be Light!
You do not need to set this up yet if your projects are still colonizing. However, if you need to begin the fruiting stage, you will need to add the light!
Our full spectrum lights are clip-ons, so will be easy to attach to the tent itself. This small, 30cm light may not sound like much in such a big tent, but actually smaller is better in this case! As grow tents are reflective, you only need a small, full spectrum light to support your fruiting process.
Set your light to the lowest setting and angle it towards the wall of your tent, not directly at the projects themselves. Mushrooms only require low, indirect lighting so this will support them better than a direct, brighter light.
